About Us

Though we are not Hawaiian, our hearts are fully in it. KOAKAI Shave Ice was created out of a deep love and respect for the authentic flavors and feeling of Hawaiian shave ice.​ KOAKAI Shave Ice started in the fall of 2024. With hardly any experience, limited funds, and a heart full of hope, we stepped into the unknown, guided by faith, family, and the desire to share something special with our community.​ As a small self funded pop up, we began with secondhand equipment, hand poured syrup, and service through our open window. Every step since then has been a blessing, and we are grateful for each opportunity to grow and serve.​ Our syrups are imported directly from Hawaii. It is a big cost for a small business like ours, but we never wanted to compromise on flavor or quality. We do our best to keep it affordable because we believe everyone deserves to experience a true taste of the islands. ​Over time, what started as a pop up grew into something more. We now cater private events and special celebrations, bringing the joy of shave ice to birthdays, baby showers, and community gatherings across Long Beach and beyond.​ While we are not Native Hawaiian, we hold deep respect for the people, culture, and traditions that inspired KOAKAI. We are committed to honoring that inspiration by doing things the right way with care, integrity, and heart.​ Every bowl we serve is a reminder that with faith and intention, even small beginnings can lead to something meaningful.
